Our story

The waakye you grew up on, given a home.

abrantie Twi · noun

A gentleman. Someone who carries himself well and treats people right.

That is the spirit behind Waakye Abrantie. We took Ghana's most-loved plate and gave it three clean, comfortable dining rooms, generous trays and a team that treats every guest with respect.

The name

A gentleman's standard

Abrantie means gentleman in Twi. It sets the standard for how we cook, how we serve and how we treat every guest who walks in.

The plate

Waakye, done properly

Rice and beans cooked with sorghum leaves, loaded with talia, gari, wele, slow-cooked stew and our house shito. Nothing rushed, nothing skipped.

The welcome

the base

Waakye

Rice and black-eyed beans cooked with dried sorghum leaves, which give it that deep, earthy red-brown colour.

the soul

House shito

the stew

Stew & wele

A slow-cooked tomato stew with tender beef and soft wele, spooned generously over the top.

the extras

Talia, gari & egg

Spaghetti, golden gari, a boiled egg, fresh salad, fried fish, sausage and plantain. You choose.

Why guests come back
